A New Route 202 and More Jobs, Too
Chester County Means Business thanks to the leadership of state Senator Andy Dinniman. In the past week, he’s capped off some incredible projects and launched some exiting new ones that promise to provide a major advantage to our regional economy.
First, the new Route 202 is now open with three lanes in each direction from Exton all the way to King of Prussia. Route 202 is a major thoroughfare for Chester County and the extra lanes mean a smoother commute for the tens of thousands of motorists who travel it each day. The improvements are also a boost for the many innovative companies in the financial, high-tech, and life sciences industries that rely on Route 202 as a vital artery.
Speaking of life sciences, Dinniman recently worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to secure an investment in Cerner Corporation, a major health care information technology company, that will create 250 new, high-wage jobs in the Malvern area. As part of the agreement, Cerner will invest more than $75 million in the project, and has also committed to retaining more than 2,000 existing jobs. It’s no coincidence that, Cerner is located in the Great Valley Corporate Center – the anchor of the Route 202 High-Tech corridor.
Also, this week Dinniman attended the ribbon cutting of Radius Health Inc., a Boston-area startup that recently opened a14,000-square-foot facility in Wayne. Radius is developing new treatments for osteoporosis, oncology, and endocrine diseases. The company has about 20 employees in its Wayne office, a number it expects to grow to 100. And again, guess where Radius’ new office is located? On Swedesford Road, right off Route 202.
