Chester County Speaks: Andy sits down with Dan Williams
New Life In Christ Fellowship Senior Pastor Dr. Dan Williams sat down with Senator Andy Dinniman at Penn’s Table Restaurant to discuss their efforts in community change, including legislation Andy supported to help end human trafficking.
Andy Dinniman: Hey Danny, it’s good to see you again, or maybe I should say the Rev. Dr. Dan Williams.
Dan Williams: Please, no titles. Dan is completely fine. I am anxious to just talk with you, especially since we’ve moved through the pilot reading program at the church.
Andy: What we did in that program is we tried to make sure that we help the parents so they could help their kids.
Dan: It’s not only been helpful in that arena in terms of Parents and young people, but I need to also just tell you, you know, I’ve appreciated over the years your passion for public resources and private resources, and the ways that you have worked in a way that has brought, I guess a kind of orchestration of bipartisan commitment along with non-partisan causes.
Andy: That partisanship has gone too far in this country. If we’re going to solve problems we have to work together and we have to unite together.
Dan: Your work in the area of Bill 75, the collaborative work with Senator Greenleaf was instrumental in helping to redefine and impact the issues of human trafficking, which in communities that I come out of are reeling from the impact of the victims and what it does to families, and a way of perpetuating a kind of criminality, that you were helpful in redefining, helping us to think through.
Andy: That was the hope, Dan. Senator Greenleaf and I, as you know both worked together to try to end human trafficking.
Dan: The way you’ve worked at developing policies that transforms the lives of people that makes you a valuable asset to the community across the board Andy. We are indebted.
Andy: Whenever you try to make progressive positive change, there always are barriers, whether it’s in your own life, whether it’s in the life of the community or any institution you’re in.
Dan: I tell you, for 30 years or more you’ve been at the vanguard. Not only as a former commissioner, as a professor, but as a senator, you’ve been firmly entrenched in making and transforming communities. It’s made a difference, it’s made a difference.
Andy: Thank you, man. Together we shall make the changes.
Dan: I appreciate you, Andy. Bless you.
Andy: Thank you.
