Working for Accessible Quality Healthcare for All
“I continue to work for access to affordable, quality health care for all Pennsylvanians. Just as importantly, we must ensure that our hospitals, medical facilities and clinics are prepared to meet the growing needs our region and that the medical community is heard in the legislative process.”
To support local free health clinics, Dinniman secured additional state grant funding for three clinics that provide free or sliding-scale health care to residents. Furthermore, Dinniman introduced legislation (modeled after Pennsylvania’s successful Educational Improvement Tax Credit program) that would give businesses tax credits in exchange for contributions made to free health clinics.
- To counter the epidemic of Lyme Disease, Dinniman helped pass Act 83 of 2014 to create a task force to form a cohesive policy and state program to address this health crisis that has been devastating to so many in our community. Dinniman also worked with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the Pennsylvania Lyme Disease Awareness Committee and local Lions Clubs on an education program related to the prevention of Lyme Disease.
- A prostate cancer survivor, Dinniman has worked to raise awareness of the disease and joined fellow legislators to encourage men to recognize its indicators and risk factors. In addition, he is currently working with local doctors and health care professionals to educate the public about emerging medical issues and preventive care.
